What is a 'City Dharma Conversation?'
"Silence is not the absence of sound, but the absence of self"
H.W.L. Poonja
Many of us are conditioned to believe that happiness depends upon achieving money, power or romantic love. When we don't get what we want, we are unhappy. When we do, the happiness is often fleeting. But usually it's not what happens to us, but the crazy-making reactivity of our own minds that causes most of our suffering. Your true nature is not defined by externals and your true happiness is not dependent upon them.
Dharma Conversations are the way in which we remind each other, through Socratic dialogue, of our true nature and the nature of reality. Filled with laughter, stories and silence, they give you an opportunity to immerse yourself in a new way of seeing the world---one that is based on connection rather than separation, direct experience rather than blind belief, and love instead of fear. In the warmth of Sanga (community), come remember your true nature and discover that happiness is as close as the present moment, no matter where that moment might be.
Arthur has lead Dharma Conversations for two years, and they were the inspiration for the books City Dharma and Sex, Love and Dharma.
